Onyx & William Tell.

Before Onyx was Onyx, it was called the William Tell.

Adenka and Stanley Lenoch Arrived in Countryside in the mid-1950’s following the “American Dream” and opened the William Tell and Holiday Inn Property in 1974.

William Tell is a folk hero of Switzerland. His legend dates back to the 14th century, and it tells the story of his heroic act of defiance against a tyrannical ruler. According to the legend, Tell was ordered by a local governor to shoot an apple off his son's head.

When he succeeded, the governor attempted to arrest him, but Tell escaped and later led a rebellion against the tyrannical ruler. The legend of William Tell has inspired many works of art, including an opera by Rossini and a play by Schiller. Today, the story of William Tell is still revered by Swiss people as a symbol of courage and defiance against tyranny.

Under Adenka and Stanley's reign, the William Tell thrived as a restaurant and banquet space. From conception to reality, Stanley and Adenka created a wonderful place for friends and families alike and caught the eyes of many investors.

In late 2014, Pearlshire acquired the hotel from the Lenoch family and planned a million dollar renovation in 2016. These renovations included guest rooms, a lobby, and more. The murals throughout are painted by Riverside artist R.Kokott.

From its humble beginnings as a small banquet hall to its current status as a popular destination for both locals and tourists, it has truly earned its place in history. With the rich history of Adenka and Stanley, and the modern qualities of MPHospitality Group, Onyx Events is here to make the most memorable of events.

Like the story of the arrow and the apple, the arrow had a destination, the apple. Welcome to your destination.
